I don’t always clearly differentiate between Buffy fanfic and that which takes place in the world of Angel; Angel, Cordelia, and Wesley all relocated from Sunnydale, so I tend to think of their activities as being extensions of the familiar Buffyverse. “Going Scully”, however, deals only tangentially with these familiar characters, so be warned that this doesn’t actually qualify as a Buffy story. All the same, it’s worth inspection: crisp and convincing prose, introspection coupled with hard-nosed realism, enough action to keep things moving, and an uneasy absence of resolution at the end to underscore the fact that the war against light and dark never ends. I’ll be checking to see if Green has done other work, because this one is solid. [Note: more of Green’s craft can be found (under the name of Roseveare) at Doyle Investigations, where she has written separate chapters in a number of collaborative stories. Worth reading.]
