Lizbeth Marcs

	One of the newer and more promising authors, Marcs suffers from a surfeit of inspiration: she keeps being hit with new ideas, which then take hold of her to the extent that she can’t finish current stories until she’s exorcised the intruder. The result is that she has several lengthy and interesting pieces that I won’t recommend because they’re unfinished. (One has had me waiting eagerly for the next installment for the better part of a year; that one, fortunately, is proceeding nicely.) A happy exception is “Two Words”. Brief, literally one-sided, and exploring a situation that I’ve always favored (but few others seem to), this one strikes notes that leave a lasting impression. Okay, I just plain like it. That happens sometimes.
