“Her Fault” isn’t an easy story to describe, mainly because it’s so simple; little can be offered in the way of commentary that doesn’t give away something, and I would rather allow stories to be experienced as they occur. I can say, with some pleasure, that Selena’s depiction of Cordelia strikes a balance too seldom seen in fanfic (and sometimes in canon itself): the woman shown here is whiny and courageous, self-centered and determined to do the right thing, confident and full of doubt … in other words, a complex, fully realized person with all the attributes we’ve seen in Cordelia without any of them being expanded to produce a one-dimensional character. Only a small amount actually happens in the story — not an epic, by any means — but what’s there is decent reading.
