Yahtzee
Okay, I give up. Reviewing Yahtzee is like trying to map ocean waves: things change too quickly for the effort to have much meaning. This is an author with an enviable talent, not only for authentically capturing the dialogue of the principal Buffy characters, but for writing stories that feel a great deal like actual episodes. Even more intimidating is the speed and (apparent) ease with which these dismayingly good stories are produced. In the past Ive reviewed and recommended Captive of the Soul, Lifespan (both Angel stories), Acid Test, Phoenix Burning, In Harms Way (from Buffy), Splinter (an Angel tale co-authored with Rheanna), and I-55 (Buffy/Angel inclusive) but with the advent of yet another story, As Time Goes By, in its own way every bit as good as all the others named, it is only too apparent that Yahtzee is going to keep churning out stories and keep getting better and better. She has now become one of those touchstones: an author with work of such range and depth and quality that the only appropriate response is to read everything you can find by her, and writhe in awe and envy. Formerly archived in various locations, she now has a personal site where all I hope of her works are gathered. Read, marvel, and send her comments. Its the least we can do.
